About Falmouth

In 1769 the capital of Trelawny was laid out, and Sir William Trelawny was instrumental in its establishment, so they named the town after his English

birthplace Falmouth. Streets were planned as a grid and patriotically named

after members of the royal family and English heroes. Bio-luminescence micro-organisms are what you will find at Falmouth; this happens with the mixture of two bodies of water, where the Martha Brae River and the Caribbean Sea meet. When this body of water is disturbed at night, it glows brightly. The Famous Luminous Lagoon Glistening Waters is known as  one of Jamaica's best night-time attraction.
